23 Jun Is Soča river rafting great for team building?
So, you’ve been picked to organize the annual team building event. Again. Yeeeeey! Congratulations 🎉. I mean, we all know you’re the only one with the skills, wisdom and patience. You are the Madre of this company, the unpraised hero who turns this group of unique egos into a winning team. You order Christmas presents, double-checking the logo isn’t upside down. You always manage to find New Year’s dinner restaurant that serves juicy steaks, vegan spicy tofu, gluten-free lasagna and all those trendy ¿qué?@;{=#} dishes.
But team buildings? They are the hardest. If you’re reading this blog, you hope rafting might be a good idea. But wait. Your gentle introvert colleague prefers the sound of silence and sees no joy in loud cheers. The office princess groans “No way I’m going for a whole day! My new amore planned a date and I can’t break my nails on some stupid paddle!” And then there’s this group of lads who always hang together. Their definition of successful team building is chilling on a terrasse of the nearby bar realizing they all ordered the same beer. “Na zdravje! We all drink Laško! Best team building ever!” When you just think this might somehow work comes Da Boss. “Keep it budget friendly. Or the next team building is robbing a bank.”
But don’t despair dear Madre. We can make it work! Hear me out. Rafting is fun, beginner friendly and exciting enough to build team spirit, short enough to leave time for a picnic after the tour and cheap enough to keep your company on the legal side of business. And maybe, just maybe this year your team will finally see your effort and say “Grazie” to you.

Why is rafting better than other team buildings?
FUN WITHOUT PRESSURE
Rafting on the Soča river offers a unique team building experience compared to traditional activities. Unlike other options, it avoids games or major trust falls that might trigger shame. It focuses on a simple task – we are all in the same boat, trying to paddle in the same direction as a team.
Phones are not allowed on the river, but our guides will have their GoPros with them. We will take care of the photos and videos for your company’s Instagram.
Besides, the Soča river’s stunning environment, with breathtaking views and vibrant colours will bond all the different souls in your team.
When is the best time for rafting on the Soča river?
DEPENDS ON YOUR TEAM
If your company is full of young sports enthusiasts come in Spring. May and June usually bring more rain and with snow from the mountains still melting we have higher water levels.
But if your team is a mix of age and fit/non fit members we recommend Autumn. September and October might bring some rain, but the water levels are still lower. Making adrenalin sceptics feel safe.
We deeply recommend you avoid the high summer season at all costs! Bovec gets really crowded from mid July to late August. As you can imagine the Soča river gets packed with boats.
Will the rain spoil the fun?
NO
Rain will not spoil your event. We always welcome rain as it maintains water levels. We organize rafting in rainy conditions and you might be lucky to see the mists rising from the river like magic dust.
We only cancel if the water level gets over safety limits, making it dangerous. Summer storms (another reason to avoid July and August) may lead to delays rather than cancellations, as mountain storms come and go quickly.
What’s the minimum / maximum number of people?
2 / 40+
The minimum number of people for rafting on the Soča river is 2. We will organize it regardless of your team size.
The maximum is 40. For teams larger than 40, we can split your group, with the first half rafting in the morning and second half rafting in the afternoon. If that’s not an option for you, send us an email on hello@bovec-rafting-team.com and we’ll find a solution.

Is it better to book a private or group tour?
PRIVATE TOUR
A private tour is a better choice. Your team will enjoy an exclusive experience without outside distractions and adapting to tourists. Private bookings allow you to choose any hour that fits your schedule, set your own pace with flexible timing and receive souvenirs – our towels – so you don’t need to bring your own.
How long is the rafting tour on the Soča river?
HALF DAY
If you book group rafting the tour lasts approximately 1h20min. It covers a 7km section with stops for swimming and jumping off rocks.
Can we make it longer? Yes, if you book a private tour. We can prolong the timing by adding an extra stop for extended swimming and jumping. But the distance will remain the same.
All together with transportation to the strating point and back, putting on neoprenes and safety talk tours usually take about 3 hours.
Is rafting safe for beginners?
YES
You just need to know how to swim. Sitting in the boat requires no special skills or top physical condition, making it suitable for everyone, including the Silver Fox nearing retirement. Please check our blog for a list of medical conditions that might be problematic.
Will it fit jefe’s budget?
YES
Group tours are more budget friendly but also the private tours are affordable. Please note group rafting prices are per person and private rafting prices are per boat. Visit our team building page for updated prices.

What if the lads want beer during the trip?
NO GO
Alcohol is not allowed during the rafting tour due to safety reasons. Guides are authorized to escort intoxicated guests to shore, as insurance does not cover accidents caused by alcohol or drug influence.
But the tour is only half a day, so your lads will have plenty of time to enjoy Laško later.
Can you help us set up a picnic?
YES
For groups smaller than 25 people, we can arrange it in the garden behind our sports center, with catering from a nearby restaurant served on-site. For larger groups or “by the Soča river” options, please contact us via email hello@bovec-rafting-team.com to discuss available options.

You see we’ve got you covered as promised. For an extra bonus you can book this team building with peace of mind – change dates, hours or number of participants until 1 week before the event. You may even cancel the whole thing without cancellation fees anytime before 1 week, when we ask for the payment.
