Have you ever seen kayakers smoothly paddling on the water, their paddles cutting through the shimmering surface like butter? It’s mesmerizing how they move with the currents, like graceful dancers. From the shore, they look elegant, like swans, and it’s so inviting to join their water dance.

But as an ordinary person, a beginner in the world of adventure, you might find yourself hesitating, wondering if the challenge is too daunting. Fear not, dear fellow traveler, for you’re not alone in your doubts. Let’s dive into the exciting world of kayaking and uncover whether it’s truly too demanding for the average adventurer.

IS KAYAKING VERY DEMANDING?

YES

Kayaking ranks among our more physically demanding activities, but we’ve got you covered with two tour options. Since our kayak courses are organized as private tours you can book a two-hour session and then decide later (on the river) if you want to keep going.

AND NO

But, you don’t need any experience. We offer different range of courses tailored to suit every skill level. Whether you’re a beginner seeking the thrill of your first paddle or a seasoned kayaker looking to upgrade your technique, we’ve got you covered. With options ranging from beginner-friendly routes to challenging rapids, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on the water.

WILL THERE BE A GUIDE WITH US?

YES

They’ll be with you from the beginning of your trip to the very end. You’ll meet them at our sports center in Bovec after you check-in for your activity. They’ll hand you your equipment and explain absolutely everything that you need to know. They’ll be helping and advising you all the way to the end.

DO I HAVE TO PADDLE?

YES

Kayak is a one person boat, so you’ll need to paddle yourself. At the start of the tour, our guides will teach you the basics of paddling and how to perform a wet exit in case of a flip. They’ll accompany you throughout the trip in their own kayaks, ensuring safety and ensuring you have a great time. And if you need a break, you can pause to relax and swim in the river.

CAN I DECIDE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TOUR THAT I DON’T WANT TO DO IT ANYMORE?

YES

If you discover during the trip that kayaking isn’t your thing or if you simply want to stop for any reason, you have the option. Just let the guide know, and they’ll ensure you can safely exit the tour at the nearest point. However, most people either overcome their initial hesitation or decide to just go for it. Once you start, you’ll realize it’s not as challenging as it may seem.

WHEN IS KAYAKING THE EASIEST?

JULY & AUGUST

Kayaking is the easiest when the water level is low. That happens during our high season, in July and August. That’s when the rapids are less intense and the current is slower.

AM I TOO OLD FOR KAYAKING?

NO

We don’t have an upper age limit. If you feel good and you’re reasonably fit then you’re good to go. Who said only youngsters can have fun on their vacation?

Kayaking is great outdoor activity for everyone. The Soča river is not that rough and you will be in safe hands of our well trained guides. So, book your kayaking tour with us and use the “Special requests and notes” section of the booking form in case you still have some questions or concerns.
